Wear-resistant 95% Alumina Ceramic Elbow for Environmental Protection Projects

Wear-resistant 95% Alumina Ceramic Elbow for Environmental Protection Projects

The 95% Alumina Ceramic Elbow is a high-performance, wear-resistant pipe fitting manufactured using high-purity alumina (Al₂O₃ content ≥95%) through a high-temperature sintering process. Designed specifically to address wear issues during material transport in industrial piping systems, this product is widely used in applications such as power plant ash handling, mine slurry transport, lithium-ion battery powder production, and environmental desulfurization projects. Compared to traditional alloy elbows, it significantly reduces the frequency of pipeline shutdowns, the need for spare part replacements, and labor costs associated with operation and maintenance.

Wear-resistant 95% Alumina Ceramic Elbow for Environmental Protection Projects

Product Description

The inner lining of this 95% Al₂O₃ Ceramic Elbow boasts a Mohs hardness of up to 9, offering a wear life 20–30 times that of ordinary carbon steel elbows and over eight times that of high-chromium cast iron elbows. Its smooth, dense inner surface prevents powder materials from adhering or caking to the walls and eliminates pipeline blockages, thereby reducing energy consumption during material transport. Additionally, the material exhibits excellent temperature and thermal shock resistance, operating stably within a range of -50°C to 900°C and withstanding corrosion from weak acids, weak alkalis, flue gases, and mineral slurries. Compared to traditional metal elbows, 95% alumina ceramic elbows offer significant advantages—including superior wear resistance, excellent corrosion resistance, and high-temperature stability—with a service life 10–20 times longer than standard steel pipes, which drastically lowers pipeline maintenance costs and reduces downtime.

Product Features

1.Exceptional Wear-resistance

Alumina ceramics boast a hardness of up to 9 on the Mohs scale (second only to diamond), with wear resistance dozens of times greater than that of ordinary carbon steel. When conveying high-hardness, high-concentration materials, the wear rate is extremely low, effectively extending the service life of the pipeline.

2.Excellent Corrosion-resistance

Chemically stable and resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, it is suitable for transporting various corrosive media and maintains stable physical properties even under harsh operating conditions, such as high humidity or exposure to acids and alkalis.

3.Excellent High-temperature Resistance

Capable of withstanding temperatures up to 1,500°C and above; exhibits outstanding thermal stability, resisting deformation and cracking in high-temperature environments while maintaining structural integrity.

4.Easy to install and maintain

Lighter than metal elbows of the same specifications, facilitating transport and installation. Highly adaptable, supporting various connection methods such as flanging and welding. Features a smooth inner wall with low flow resistance, minimizing the risk of material buildup or clogging.

5.Excellent Overall Cost-effectiveness

Although the initial investment is slightly higher than that of standard steel pipes, the exceptionally long service life significantly reduces total costs, minimizes the need for frequent replacements and maintenance-related downtime, and enhances system operational efficiency.

Product Structural Types

1. Monolithic Ceramic Elbow

fired as a single piece using 95% alumina ceramic

suitable for small-to-medium diameters and high-wear operating conditions

2. Ceramic Tile-lined Elbow

high-purity ceramic tiles bonded to the inner wall of the steel pipe

suitable for large-diameter pipelines; combines metallic toughness with ceramic wear resistance

3. Ceramic Composite Elbow

ceramic layer tightly bonded to the metal outer shell

excellent impact resistance; suitable for high-impact operating conditions

Installation and Usage Precautions

  1. Flow direction marking: the elbow surface is marked with an arrow indicating the medium flow direction; installation must align with the flow, ensuring the ceramic wear surface faces the material impact zone.
  2. Careful handling: while the ceramic layer is extremely hard, it is also brittle; avoid violent impacts during transport and lifting, and do not strike the ceramic end face directly with metal tools.
  3. Alignment: ensure the centerlines of both pipe ends are aligned during connection, keeping end-face misalignment within 1.0 mm; ensure end faces remain flat for flange connections.
  4. Thermal expansion compensation: the thermal expansion coefficient of the ceramic is approximately one-third that of steel; when using flexible joints, allow for an expansion gap of 3–5 mm.
  5. Welding specifications: implement cooling measures during on-site welding to prevent high welding temperatures from conducting directly to the ceramic layer.

Packaging and Shipping

1.Packed in wooden crates or on pallets; elbows are separated by foam or soft materials to prevent impact damage during transport.

2.Shipping methods: supports various modes of transport, including road, rail, and sea.

3.Storage conditions: store in a dry, well-ventilated area; avoid crushing by heavy objects.

FAQ

Q1: Based on our ash transport pipeline parameters (pipe diameter, flow velocity, ash volume), could you recommend a ceramic lining thickness?

Yes,we can.

Q2: At which locations in the piping system is the use of ceramic-lined elbows essential?

Wear is typically most severe at elbows, tees, and reducers.

Q3: Is it necessary to line straight pipe sections with ceramic as well, or is lining just the elbows sufficient?

Ceramic lining is mainly recommended for elbows, tees, reducers, and valve areas where wear is concentrated. Straight pipes usually do not require full ceramic lining, as elbow wear is typically 5–15 times higher. For better cost-effectiveness, prioritize ceramic protection in high-wear areas.

Q4: Is it possible to have the entire pipeline ceramic-lined, rather than just the elbows?"

Yes. We provide complete ceramic-lined piping systems, including straight pipes, elbows, tees, reducers, and valves. For normal applications, ceramic-lined steel pipes offer the best balance of cost and performance; for extreme wear conditions, full ceramic ring lining is available for maximum durability.
